Building Capacity

Let’s Get Together!
Heritage Academy will host the following events, workshops and activities to build the capacity for strong parent engagement and to foster a partnership between the school, parents and the community. As a collective team, we will focus on improving student academic achievement. Invitations will be sent to all parents.
 
First Semester Parent-Family Events and Meetings
Annual Title I Parent Meeting Open House
We invite you to an opportunity to learn about our Title I Program, Parent and Family Engagement Plan, School-Parent Compacts, and the Parents’ Right to Know Process. You will also be able to meet your child’s teachers and staff for the school year.
 
Town Hall Meeting
Parents will get an opportunity to have dialogue with Principal Trennis Harvey regarding the school plan, curriculum and their child’s progress.
 
Family Engagement Building School Staff Capacity Workshops
Faculty and Staff members will have an opportunity to learn best practices in how to effectively engage and increase parent engagement in their classrooms.
 
Second Semester Parent-Family Events and Meetings
APPT Parents Engagement Meetings
√Parents will learn important tips on helping their children with the components
of the Georgia Milestones Assessment, specifically in Math.
 
√Parents will be given information about the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) curriculum information from our guidance department as it relates specifically to Science.
 
School Parents and Family Engagement Workshops
√In preparing students to achieve academic success in their writing skills, parents
will be equipped with the necessary tools to enhance their children’s writing abilities.
 
√Parents will learn basic technology skills which will help increase their computer literacy.
 
√Parents will review and provide feedback for the School-Parent Compact and the Parent and Family Engagement Plan, which will be distributed to all parents and students throughout the year.
 
Transitioning from Pre-K to Kindergarten and Elementary to Middle School
√Parents will be given invaluable resources that will help their children transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten and Elementary to Middle School.
