Promote and Support Parents

Heritage Academy will take the following measures to promote and support parents as an important foundation of the school in order to strengthen the school and help us reach our goals.

 

✓Ensure that all information related to school and parent programs, meetings and other activities are posted on the school’s website and in the monthly school newsletter.

 

✓Conduct staff development twice a year on parent engagement practices and effective strategies for staff to communicate and build partnerships with parents; provide opportunities for parents to share ideas and staff to share best practices to increase parent and family engagement.

 

✓Partner with Head Start and early reading programs by sharing information and activities to help parents support their children in kindergarten. There will also be opportunities for parents and staff to partner with the feeder middle school to provide transition activities for students in 5th grade.

 

✓Share information in the school’s newsletter and on the website for parents to understand the school’s academic standards and assessments as well as ways parents can monitor their child’s progress and work with educators.

 

✓Communicate with all families and the community on a regular basis regarding school-wide events and activities, through phone messages, social media, and flyers.

 

✓Work with our parents to develop relevant training and presentations to educate our staff on the importance of parent involvement.

 

✓Provide necessary materials and handouts for parents at conferences, meetings and activities to help parents work with their child to improve their learning and ultimately, achievement.

 

✓ Collaborate with the community to improve awareness and increase participation in the activities and events listed in the School Parent and Family Engagement Plan.
