Family Parent Engagement

As a School
Facilitates and utilizes student portfolios and goals to increase student writing throughout the curriculum.
 
Hosts three APTT Parent Meeting nights to review student data and demonstrate how to work with your child at home. (Make and Take Activities).
 
Provides students and parents with a model of R.A.C.E. to assist students and parents with the essential elements of completing and responding appropriately to constructive responses.
 
 
As a Parent/ Family Member
Participates in conferences, attends APTT Parent Meetings, and provides feedback and learns ways to support student goals.
 
Browses and utilizes the list of teachers recommended on educational websites shared with me to work with my child at home to enhance my child's achievement with English/Language Arts and Math.
 
Visits the Parent Center to check out resources to use at home with my child.
 
 
As a Student

Routinely refers to the R.A.C.E. model to guide my constructive responses and learn ways to strengthen my responses and structure.

Maintains a writing portfolio that will include reflective evaluation of my reading and writing goals, as well as samples of my writing.

Reads independently (on grade level) to increase comprehension and the love for reading.

Earns points and incentives for consistently reading and passing Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes.

Learn as many sight words as possible. For every 50 words learned in the Sight Word Soldiers Program, a tag will be awarded. Each tag will be added to a chain, which will hang in the classroom. Sight words are an extremely important part of reading development.

Practices and learns multiplication facts. For every fact group that is learned, an incentive will be awarded. Learning multiplication facts helps to build fluency and critical thinking skills for more complex mathematical concepts.
