Our School

Heritage Academy Elementary School is located in the Orchard Knob community in southeast Atlanta.

In April 2002, APS completed construction of a new 81,000 square foot school facility in southeast Atlanta called Heritage Academy. It was formerly known as Minnie Howell Elementary, for Minnie Smith Howell, who played a significant role in fostering many civil accomplishments in the Evans P. Howell School Community in the early 1900’s. Howell Elementary served the southeast sector of Atlanta for 47 years and will continue educating well into the new millennium. Heritage Academy has adopted the slogan “Education Through Innovation...Promoting Healthy Living.” 

Heritage has a population of approximately 400 students. Our school hours for students are 7:45 am - 2:15 pm. Students can report to school beginning at 7:20 am for breakfast.
